Builder Leadership

Leading Yourself

Before you can build conditions for others, you have to command yourself.

Leadership begins inward. This module installs the founding posture, that leaders create conditions rather than performance, and the self-command it depends on: character before technique, and disciplined attention over reactive busyness. Everything the later modules ask of a leader rests on what this one builds.

Conditions developed: Attention · Alignment · Authority · Adaptability

Lessons

  1. 01

Adopt the founding stance of leadership: you do not create performance, you create the conditions that allow it.

    AI lens

AI can produce output, but it cannot own conditions. The leader's job, building the conditions, is the part that does not delegate to a model.

  2. 02

Lead from character first, then competence: Be, Know, Do, in that order.

    AI lens

AI can supply competence on demand, which makes character the scarce and defining part of a leader.

  3. 03

Govern where your attention goes, and have the discipline to decide what not to do.

    AI lens

AI can absorb the reactive overhead that fragments a leader's focus, so attention is reserved for judgment only a human can give.
